10 Most Memorable Thanksgiving Scenes In Movies (Slideshow)

"Home For the Holidays"

Everyone has been to that Thanksgiving. You know, the bad one where everyone argues and makes fun of each other. But how many people have been to a Thanksgiving where their brother drops a turkey in their lap?

"The Blind Side"

A good Thanksgiving movie should really tug at the heart strings. In The Blind Side, Sandra Bullock's character Leigh Anne Tuohy and her family not only welcome Michael into their hearts, but they thank God for bringing him into their lives. Talk about a holiday moment!

"Scent of a Woman"

Holiday dinners invariably include incredibly awkward family moments. None is more painful and uncomfortable than when your uncle tells you that you aren't pleasing your wife enough in the bedroom like in Scent of a Woman.

"Trains, Planes, and Automobiles"

Hijinks and comedy are important when it comes to a good Thanksgiving film. And really, it doesn't get any more hijinks-filled than a John Candy movie. After watching the two main characters attempt to get Steve Martin's character home for the holidays, we are shown a flashback of a heartbreaking Thanksgiving scene explaining why Candy's character is so quirky. While it isn't the happiest of Thanksgiving scenes, it is one of the most heartfelt!

"The Ice Storm"

Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for everything you have. Including all of your material possessions. Despite the fact that Thanksgiving speeches have a way of going a little off kilter.

"Funny People"

What starts out as a funny and off-color film turns serious, warm, and heartfelt when Adam Sandler's character George makes a toast about the important times in life. It is especially touching, since it really is a group dinner among a bunch of random guests.

"The Addams Family Values"

Leave it to the Addams to discuss the real meaning of Thanksgiving. Wednesday makes sure to illustrate the story of the Pilgrims and the Indians in a very honest way during the Thanksgiving-based play while at camp.

"Brokeback Mountain"

Sometimes a year's worth of tension can build up only to be released during a big holiday gathering. In Brokeback Mountain, all the characters' harsh feelings come to a head during the biggest meal of the year.

"Dutch"

When Ed O'Neil's character Dutch agrees to pick up his girlfriend's preppy son, Doyle (Ethan Embry), from school for the holidays, he discovers what a little brat his girlfriend's son is. Their adventure is rife with classic John Hughes scenarios, including a lot of Doyle beating up on Dutch. After a tumultuous journey, the two end up at the Thanksgiving table together as friends, but not before Dutch repays Doyle for some of the torture.

"A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving"

Holidays are all about tradition, and it doesn't get more traditional than Charlie Brown and Snoopy. The two try to prepare a nice Thanksgiving meal but they're met with resistance from some of their pickier pals.
