Foursquare Tips

  • On The Best Thing I Ever Ate, Scott Conant goes crazy for Mama Els' Fried Chicken at Hill Country Chicken, a fresh fried chicken joint frying up all-natural chicken. Find more tips at FN Local.
  • Favorite fried chicken near Flatiron. We prefer the Original over the Mama's skinless option. The milkshakes are outstanding as well.
  • The Hill Country classic fried chicken is awesome! Crispy and a little bit of smokey sweet. So yummy!
  • Try the Texas hand roll at this new spot! It's fried chicken tenders, coleslaw, sesame seeds, crushed almonds, and hot-pepper jelly wrapped in a flour tortilla.
  • It's all right. Better off sticking to NY Burger Co
  • Downstairs is awesome. Furnished like an 80s den with carpeting and vintage games.
  • Absolutely killer Chickwich sandwich! Even better with a heavy handed squirt of hot sauce. Spot on!
  • Pie Happy Hour (M-F, 4-6pm) get a complimentary cup of coffee with any slice of pie and get a second slice at half-price. The Fried Pimento Cheese Sandwich is best before desert.
  • An 8-piece runs $27 plus a pie game dealing classics like banana cream or the more decadent whiskey buttermilk, straight up or blended into a milkshake.
  • When you're craving a heart attack, try Hill Country. Pretty damned tasty.
  • The chicken tenders are amazeballs. Pie shakes? Seriously?! Done and done. This place is off the charts.
  • Best blueberry pie!!
  • The mashed potatoes have French fries in them so be prepared... to never want mashed potatoes anywhere else again.
  • Avoid the wrap & it's flimsy insipid tortilla.
  • Try the Fried Chicken and Biscuits
  • Hipster chicken clean place. Chicken taste like German JA! bacon chips.
  • Hill Country Chicken specializes in biscuits that go great with sausage gravy, or used for breakfast sandwiches.
  • Mac and cheese isn't on the menu but they offer it as a side. It's $0.50 extra. But the cheesy mash potatoes are better. Coleslaw isn't worth getting. They also have Shiner Bock on draft
  • Good choice of puddings!
  • Because, pie.
