It’s no secret that America thrives on fast food. In fact, nearly 100 billion dollars are spent on fast food every year. Whether it be a quick lunch to compliment a fast-paced lifestyle or a cheap option for feeding a family of five, there’s a reason why we have close to 50,000 fast food chains across the United States.
According to the Palo Alto Medical Foundation, children between the ages of six and 14 eat fast food 157 million times a month. Although there are healthy, well-balanced options at fast food chains, the unhealthy options tend to be the most appealing and more common. In addition, not all fast food companies make their meals with the same ingredients. Some fast food chains use harmful chemicals, processing, or added sugar to give the meal its recognizable taste. Knowing exactly how fast food companies operate is just as important as focusing on your portion size and calorie intake at theses popular restaurants.
