Tips

  • You'd be hard-pressed to find better okonomiyaki in the city. Throw in the Beatles decor, the offal-laden yakitori, and the friendly family vibe and the tiny Halu's a win. [Eater 38 Member]
  • Order the gyu toro, chicken skin, and okonomiyaki.
  • Absolutely love this place. The staff are amazing and the food never fails.
  • Try a double shot of shochu with Ramune soda. Cuz it's weird but surprisingly delicious.
  • Halu's shining grace is not the ramen - but the yakitori. Juicy and delicious - the tontoro is a definite must order. The decor and the attentive waitstaff are another plus.
  • The okonomiyaki is good here! Crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside.
  • Lovely baby
  • I know its not the focal point of their restaurant, but i really like their butter corn ramen. Spicy, of course.
  • They have lovely chicken hearts.
  • bacon-wrapped everything....
  • Best robata in SF. Ramen is okay--the Beatles-themed restaurant makes up for it and really adds a chill vibe to the whole dining experience. They also have yuzu shu! :)
  • Fantastic yakitori + Beatles = win!
  • You wouldn't usually equate ramen with The Beatles and '60s memorabilia, but thanks to their reliably delicious ramen, Halu gets away with it.
  • Outstanding yakitori, and a couple of great shochus. This is now one of my favorite spots in the Bay Area.
  • The sake sampler of the day is a great deal!
  • Get there early or there is a waitlist you can get on.
  • The beef tongue is unbelievably good. A thicker cut than most places but so so so beefy. Feels like you stepped into a legit izakaya in Tokyo. The Beatles theme sells it.
  • EAT EVERYTHING
  • One of the best Japanese places in SF. Original yakitori and decor. Try the okonomiyaki and get some sake
  • Yakitori are amazing. The beef belly, wasabeef, chicken livers (grilled, not fried), and shizo chicken are all fantastic.
