The Hair Of The Dog: Celebrate Bloody Mary Day

There is no simple cure for the gut-wrenching hangover that occurs after a night of gratuitous drinking. But if you are a traditionalist (and a slight masochist), there is no better way to beat the hangover blues then by swigging back the "hair of the dog." And if you have some morning stragglers from last night's extravaganza, you may want to consider having such a "cure" on hand.

Fernand Petiot is often credited as the inventor of the Bloody Mary, creating the first one in Harry's New York Bar in Paris with equal parts tomato juice and vodka in the 1920s. In 1934, Petiot returned to the U.S. at the King Cole Bar in the St. Regis Hotel in New York City and added lemon, pepper, and Tabasco to make up the classic cocktail we know today.

To help you muddle through your New Year's Day, we collected several unique but equally delicious recipes from cocktail purveyors who serve the same drink in their respective establishments. Check out these delicious and comforting cocktails today- which is especially great for Bloody Mary Day on New Years Day!
