Back in 2011, popular California hamburger stand Taylor's Automatic Refresher renamed its three locations (Napa, St. Helena, and San Francisco's Ferry Building) because its owners brothers Joel and Duncan Gott didn't own rights to the name, and couldn’t persuade its owners to let them trademark it. It may have been jarring to see the name change and the neon-lit red G, but what didn’t change when they adopted the family name Gott's Roadside Tray Gourmet were the storied grilled ⅓-pound Niman Ranch burgers. Cooked medium-well, but served "a little pink inside," topped with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and secret sauce on a toasted egg bun, Gott’s cheeseburger gets pressed lightly in a machine at the end of the line (employees say this steams the bun, but it still leaves the underside toasted-crunchy). The effect is thick and juicy. An icon. -Arthur Bovino

  • best burger
  • Sweet potato fries. 'Nuff said.
  • A great place for milk shakes, burgers and hot dogs. -Jonathan Waxman, Top Chef
  • Have you tried the cheeseburger with sweet potato fries?'s #40 on 7x7's Big Eat SF 2010.
  • The ahi tuna burger is super yummy and really meaty and filling!
  • There are hamburgers that are made one by one, and they have this bleu cheese burger with crumbled bleu -- its great.
  • Don't forget to order a shake.
  • Burger and a glass of wine for under $15!
  • Once u r there don't forget to try Chili cheese fries it's delicious <3
  • The manager here is awesome!
  • Ask to get the burgers on toasted sourdough bread and cut in half.
  • Try the Garlic Fries
  • Watching the zipline
  • "can I take this with me?" Taylors employee reminded me that I was a grown man & if I wanted to walk thru the Ferry Bldg with my Boont Amber, then I should
  • The menu is a mix of great takes on classic diner food, like a perfect open-faced tuna melt on sourdough rounds made with fresh ahi tuna, and California favorites, like fish tacos (excellent!).
  • The Ahi Poke Tacos are excellent! The burgers are delicious(I am always looking for a GOOD burger) the only problem, I wish the buns were just a little more toasty, might go with the burger better!!
  • Spicy chicken is low fat and very tasty, with coriander flavour.
  • Forget Shake Shack in NY, these burgers and shakes are worth coming to SF for. Delicious, great meat and cool space.
  • Try the big & tasty or the miss Kentucky chicken burgers. Not on the regular menu but ask the cashier. Worth it I promise
  • If you're not ordering the Sweet Potato or Garlic Fries, I'm afraid I can't help you.. ever.
