Gift Guide: Tequila & Mezcal

Just a few years ago, it was pretty tough to find a bar that served tequila or mezcal cocktails when it wasn't Cinco de Mayo. Fortunately, times have changed and not only are the two spirits now in demand year-round, but there are even a number of fine establishments dedicated to agave-based concoctions exclusively.

One such watering hole is Los Angeles' renowned Las Perlas, which offers dozens and dozens of bottlings from around Mexico (it's one of the biggest selections in all of Southern California). So for our new tequila and mezcal holiday gift guide we asked the joint's general manager, Raul Yrastorza, for five present ideas.

No matter if your friends and family sip the liquor neat, with Sangrita or in classics like the Margarita, the Paloma and the Bloody Maria, there's something for them in our story.

Hosting a party? Whip up a batch of talented New York bartender Tad Carducci's Oaxacan Punch, calling for, naturally, mezcal, and also Italian amaro, grapefruit juice, lemon juice, and ginger beer. Or fix master mixologist and Liquor.com advisory board member Dale DeGroff's recipe for Margaritas by the Pitcher. Cheers!
