Tips

  • The whiskey menu is more like a whiskey novel. Read it and weep.
  • An impressive selection of brews & small batch whiskeys is lined up, as well as hand-pumped beer engines pouring perfect pints. For a solid ale & a tasty dish of hearty pub fare this place delivers.
  • We sat in the 'Barrel Room' it roomy enough for 10 of us. The food they served was excellent! We visit Chicago from time to time, and we plan to dine here again.
  • Quite possibly the worst service on the planet. Food is great, so just be prepared to wait and feel like an idiot and you'll be happy.
  • Get the brisket and make sure to try out one of their awesome whiskeys. Great list, impressive beer list too.
  • Not family friendly. They have no high chairs but sat us without telling us, and they avoided telling us about a booster chair. That said we weren't welcome to me.
  • They have food? Who knew?
  • Great patio!
  • Cozy atmosphere filled with yuppies dressed like hipsters. Great IPA selection but skip the pinot noir. Prepare to wait a while outside the ladies room.
  • Try the Monkeybread!
  • Absolutely get the bacon nuts. View the pic
  • Stop reading nonsense "tips" and order a delicious beer and any number of good starters.
  • So much to like - great beer list. But they are terrible at pouring off cask - insist on a head for every beer. No. No. No. All else great though.
  • Fountainhead's more-lunch-than-breakfast burger, offered during weekend brunch hours, is a half pound of Slagel beef with smoked gouda, bacon and a fried egg served on a brioche bun.
  • New menu! The falafel with pickled veggies & house-made tzatziki is the best veg sandwich I've had in Chicago. Save room for the bread pudding.
  • Awesome beer selection and atmosphere
  • Lots of beer lovers on dates
  • In the summer, the rooftop deck has no equal for miles around. In the winter, the main bar is just right for holing up with your new favorite beer, your traveling companion and a few tall tales.
  • There are sriracha-kissed deviled eggs, a very nice meat and cheese board, salads, sandwiches and the ever-curious "bowl of pickled things.
  • Rooftop seating + a stellar craft beer and whiskey selection.
