FIGARO, an EU-funded international project focused on developing a new precision agriculture Decision Support System (DSS) to improve irrigation management for increasing water productivity, will hold a three-day conference in Israel September 7-9, 2016.
The event will gather together FIGARO consortium members, EU representatives and expert stakeholders from academia, industry and the Israeli government.
The event will begin with a day of academic presentations on the FIGARO project at the Stephen and Nancy Grand Water Research Institute at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology.
Attendees will include members of the Technion and other agriculture institutes such as the Volcani Center, the Weizmann Institute of Science, the Delegation of the European Union to Israel, officials from the Research and Development Authority at the Israeli Ministry of Economy and precision irrigation stakeholders.
During the event, FIGARO Project partners will have the opportunity to present the impressive results of the FIGARO Platform, to be followed by an open discussion on trends in the global precision irrigation field.
On the second day, Netafim will hold a field day at a demonstration site. FIGARO project members will take a tour in the field to view precision agriculture in practice at a Netafim site in Kibbutz Hatzerim in the Negev desert.
In the afternoon, a meeting will be held with one of Netafim's clients, where they will demonstrate how they have adopted Netafim's precision irrigation techniques.
The FIGARO Project will hold another international conference together with CopaCogeca in Brussels on September 19, 2016 to present the successful project outcomes and the benefits of using the FIGARO Platform to potential end users and promoters of precision irrigation.

FIGARO is a Europe-wide research project co-funded by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development of the European Union.
The FIGARO consortium is industry driven and includes 17 separate organizations from eight countries, including a number of commercial and academic leaders in the field of irrigation, which bring to the industry expertise in precise irrigation-related technologies.
