This 'Lotus Flower' Cake Topper Is Birthday Cake Goals

A Reddit post is going viral over what could be the coolest birthday cake topper on the planet. A GIF posted by user oldschoolfl shows a torch-like flame atop a chocolate-frosted cake that blooms into a flower outfitted with several small candles. The multicolored plastic petals spin in a circle as the birthday boy — oldschoolfl's 6-year-old grandson — and his mother look on in delight.

The short clip, which was posted on March 5, has accumulated over 82,400 up-votes in just one day and the GIF on Imgur has over 2.3 million views.

"Love the transition from boredom to sheer panic to pure joy," zigzagcow wrote in the comment section, noting that the growing blaze seemed to have frightened partygoers.

But there's a reason behind the reaction.

"The Christmas before last they lost their home in a fire. They lost everything, including two dogs," oldschoolfl told The Daily Meal. "They weren't home when it happened thankfully. So he's a little nervous with fire."

But after others watched the boy's frown turn to a smile, they began to inquire about where to purchase the candle.

"Birthday coming up fast. Where do I get these? How many can I get for $100?" an eager souleater2069 asked. The party favor — widely described as a "Lotus Flower" — is available online at PartySwizzle.com, Google Express, Walmart, Zambell, and AliExpress where it sells from $1.35 to $19.95.

And as if the sparkling theatrics weren't already enough, the cool candle also plays the "Happy Birthday" song.  But be warned: Long after the festivities are over, some users aren't able to escape the melody.

"There's no off switch, nor is there access to the battery, so they never, ever, ever, shut the f— up," dukeguy wrote on Reddit. "Also, they're virtually indestructible. Once had one still beating out tunes for a week in the back garden, the happy birthday tune getting progressively slower day by day. Threw another one in the pool, still kept on trucking. I think they are made out of reclaimed Nokia 61000 parts."

"Here in China, those are everywhere. We just cut the wire to shut them up," dashenyang offered.

Aside from consumer complaints about the candles' alleged inability to put a cork in it, the look on that little boy's face leads us to believe this item is a win. But other people haven't been so lucky on their special day. Here is an unfortunate series of events in the form of 12 hilarious birthday cake fails.
