  • When the City Market restaurants are crowded, grab some pizza slices from Vinnie Van GoGo's and eat in the Square. Perfect picnic!
  • One of four original squares laid out in 1733. It was often called the Marketplace Square, but was actually named in honor of Henry Ellis, Georgia's 2nd Royal Governor. See the new water works!
  • Life size chess pieces are available to use in the chessboard. U can get access to them from the security office with photo id
  • There's a public restroom in the corner of Ellis Square. Great place to have lunch or read a book. Public tables
  • There is almost always parking on the 4th floor of the Whitaker street Garage. Even when the lot says FULL
  • Pet drinking fountain by the restrooms.
  • Sit back, relax, enjoy a cold beer and people watch.
  • Several buildings sat on this site since the 1700s. The last, a parking garage, was removed in the early 2000s. Take advantage of the new parking underneath. www.architecturalsavannah.com
  • The famous songwriter Johnny Mercer statue...famous for writing "Ain't Nothing but a Hounddog" and "Who Let the Dogs Out-Who,Who,Who?" If you step on his foot while rubbing his hat, he'll sing for you
  • The views, vibe, and music if something is happening in City Market.
  • Open space for sitting or hanging out with friends. Also a great meet up spot since it is so open. It separates City Market from the rest of the downtown area going East.
