Ellary's Greens: A Perfect Balance Between Healthy And Delicious

When owner Leith Hill decided to open Ellary's Greens in New York's West Village earlier this year, she knew it wasn't simply about creating a restaurant dedicated to serving a hungry clientele in a busy city. Her real mission was to provide simply executed, delicious and healthy food to a city that's desperately in need of this special option.

The menu is constructed to offer something for everyone. There are a variety of gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan choices, all of which are clearly labeled and described on the menu.

Hill works closely with executive chef Alex Oefeli to craft a seasonal menu that showcases many local purveyors and farmers. Knowing where their food comes from is at the heart of their operation, noted Hill.

The team also believes in injecting flavor into everything they cook. With a special smoker on premises, they smoke their own thick-cut bacon that's used in several of their dishes, namely the BLT, as well as their smoked deviled eggs that are simply heavenly.

For vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike, vegetables are on full display at Ellary's. I sampled the roasted beets with avocado puree and the Brussels sprouts on a recent visit, and after hearing about the house-smoked bacon, I decided to order the BLT on a gluten free wrap. The wrap itself is a Food 4 Life product, which is a perfectly light vehicle for the sinfully decadent smoked bacon, frisee and tomato combination. I also sampled the daily special, split pea soup. It paired most spectacularly with the BLT wrap and I wasn't ashamed to dip succulent bites of the wrap directly into the mouth watering, savory soup.

Ellary's has also become quite popular in its neighborhood for the juice bar with its freshly made organic juices that are perfect for an early morning start or an afternoon revitalizing pick-me-up.

What's quite special about Ellary's Greens is how each dish is carefully crafted for customers to not only enjoy, but also to make them feel good about what they have just eaten.

Hill knows how eating processed foods can totally affect the overall health and well being of a person. So for her, it's of the utmost importance to create food that's nutritious, and delicious.  This philosophy will only help the customers who are dining there, throughout the day feel nourished and fulfilled, after stopping by her restorative, and revitalizing restaurant.
