Quick: When you think of a fast food burger, what's the first thought that pops into your head? Greasy? Boring? Unhealthy? All of the above can certainly be true, but you'd be amazed by how not boring some fast food burgers are, especially international ones. We've tracked down nine of the most bizarre fast food burgers to ever be unleashed on an unsuspecting public.
Burger King Japan: Black Ninja Burger
This burger, unveiled by Burger King in Japan in November 2014, was designed to look like a ninja sticking its tongue out. The burger includes a Whopper patty, hash browns, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and a gigantic slab of grilled bacon, all piled onto a jet-black bun.

Burger King Japan: Pumpkin Burger
For Thanksgiving 2012, Burger King Japan released a burger with a patty topped with sliced kabocha squash (also called Japanese pumpkin), bacon, lettuce, and a mayo-based sauce with sesame seeds, peanuts, cashews, almonds, and hazelnuts.

Foie gras on a burger can be a wonderful thing — just ask Jose Garces — but from Wendy's? When the chain returned to Japan after a two-year hiatus in 2011, they did so in a big way, with a $16 specialty burger topped with foie gras and demi-glace. Classy!
McDonald’s Austria: Surf and Turf Burger
The "surf" and the "turf" are usually eaten separately when they're served at a restaurant, but not at McDonald's Austria. This burger came topped with tomato, cucumbers, arugula, and fried shrimp. The burger was actually designed by Toni Mörwald, one of Austria's most well-respected chefs.

In 2011, McDonald's in Europe brought some of Europe's most renowned chefs on board to create specialty burgers for the chain. One result was the surf and turf burger above, and in Italy, chef Gualtiero Marchesi created the Adagio, which was topped with eggplant "mousse," tomato, and ricotta salata cheese, presented on a bun with chopped toasted almonds.
