Sleek Style, Urban Cool: INNSIDE New York NoMad

New York’s NoMad district (short for North of Madison Square Park) is one of the city’s coolest neighbourhoods. Perched on the edge of Chelsea, it’s the perfect spot for visitors to be based in—away from the chaos of Midtown, but within easy reach of popular tourist spots like the High Line, Broadway, Times Square and the Empire State Building.

INNSIDE NoMad is a classy, mid-range property ideally situated within the area, and whether you’re a first-time visitor to the Big Apple or a Manhattan regular, this new hotel provides everything you could possibly want. Here’s how INNSIDE New York NoMad checks out.

Style & Character

INNSIDE NoMad epitomises sleek, urban New York cool—think floor-to-ceiling glass windows, brick buildings with those iconic New York City metal fire escapes, and trendy, minimalist furnishings. The lobby is modern and impressive: light and bright, with quilted, pineapple-yellow couches, ambient lighting and fresh flowers aplenty.

The lobby bar is a popular spot for a drink, and most evenings you’ll find it packed with locals and residents sipping on one of the delicious cocktail creations.

The rooms at INNSIDE NoMad echo the decor in the lobby: they’re sparkling white, with pops of color from the bright yellow cushions to the pink-accented night light. They’re simple but stylish, with all the mod-cons you could possibly need. The bed is large, the sheets soft and crisp, and if you need to work there’s a white desk and comfy chair where you can catch up with things.

There’s a Nespresso machine, a mini-bar with complimentary water, soft drinks and juice (replenished free of charge every day), a 42-inch flat-screen TV with Bluetooth and USB plugs, and a safe that’s the perfect size for a laptop. The spotless bathrooms boast powerful rain showers and a whole host of indulgent toiletries.

Terrace Suites come with spectacular, almost-vertiginous views of the Empire State building, and if you’re staying on floors 16 to 20, you’ll be able to admire the glittering Manhattan skyline as you lie back in bed.

Service & Facilities

The bright and smiling concierge team at reception can’t do enough to help, and will happily point you in the direction of the coolest bars or best restaurants. Even if you know the city well, it’s worth asking the concierge team for suggestions; they’re extremely knowledgeable and can give you plenty of insider tips that can transform your trip.

In terms of the facilities, there’s a modern gym with treadmills, cross trainers and weights, an attractive yoga terrace, a ground-floor sun terrace and two meeting rooms. The whole idea of this hotel is to better explore the city, so any further facilities would probably be a waste.

Food & Drink

The Brasserie Restaurant at INNSIDE NoMad packs quite the punch. Chef Jose de Jesus Emmanuelli has created a mouthwatering menu that’s packed with classic American dishes with a modern and innovative twist. Guests will likely agonise over the menu (and everything I tried was delicious), but thankfully every need is catered for, whether you’re after a quick bite or a complex, continental meal.

Despite its exceptional food, the atmosphere here is leisurely and laid back, and in the morning it’s the perfect spot to enjoy an outstanding coffee. There’s a tasty breakfast buffet too, and the bright and airy space, with wood panelling, booth seating and a floor-to-ceiling window, is a great space to plan the day’s adventures.

The bar is also worth a visit—and be sure to try the incredible cocktails! If you’re unsure what to order, try the San Remos. The flavors of vermouth, bourbon, bitter orange liqueur and fresh orange juice mix beautifully—the only issue is that one probably won’t be enough!
