Orlando woman sentenced to federal prison for Hurricane Irma identity theft

An Orlando woman was sentenced to nearly seven years in federal prison Thursday for using stolen identities to apply for disaster assistance following Hurricane Irma. Jermica Jerri Dominick Brooks, 37, pleaded guilty Nov. 12 to aggravated identity theft and two separate wire fraud schemes, said William Daniels, spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Middle District of Florida.
