The Summer, Glamping's Going Gourmet With Seattle Chefs

It takes two to make a thing go right. While Rob Base was singing about getting down, I'm talking about chowing down. Lakedale Resort is combining two of Seattle's favorite things — camping and eating well — into a delicious weekend series.

San Juan Island's idyllic getaway is bringing back its beloved Gourmet Glamping weekends where guests savor multicourse meals made by top Seattle chefs. Just in time for the summer, Lakedale Resort has opened six new canvas cottages on its woodsy lakeside property. With pillow-top beds, super soft sheets, and Lakedale's signature Toasty Toes turndown services, they are the perfect pairing to gourmet eats.

At each gourmet campfire cookout, Seattle chefs will hosting a hands-on cooking experience. Guests will have the special opportunity to have one-on-one time with the chefs, and afterwards, share a fire-roasted feast together. Do you prefer the great outdoors with a great bottle of wine? You're in luck; each meal features bottles from regional winemakers — Fries Family, Duck Pond Cellars, and Desert Wind Winery.

Gourmet Glamping kicks off on June 11th with Chef Brian Clevenger, owner of Vendemmia and East Anchor Seafood. Clevenger developed a fondness for Pacific N.W. seafood and produce growing up in Anacortes and honed his culinary talents working in France, at S.F.'s Delfina, and Seattle's Tavolàta and Staple & Fancy.

Clevenger's menu will begin with Kusshi oysters and dungeness crab salad. Taking advantage of the outdoor fire, he'll be grilling up local salmon, NY steak, carrots, and asparagus. For dessert, get ready for charred peaches atop homemade vanilla ice cream.

On July 16th, Chef Ericka Burke will bring her love of seasonal, produce-driven, comfort food. Burke will recreate the convivial, community spirit of her Seattle spots Volunteer Park Café and Chop Shop around the campfire. Her TBD menu will brim with the "always fresh goodness" for which she is famous.

Gourmet Glamping tickets are $75 per person — must be 21 and over — in addition to your accommodation rate. For more information or to make a reservation, please call 800.617.2267 or visit www.lakedale.com.
