Spaghetti Doughnuts: The Latest Food Hybrid

After the burger/burrito and the croissant/doughnut, one might have thought that the world of food hybrids was out of ideas. Now, however, the carb-loving geniuses at Brooklyn’s Pop Pasta have made a doughnut out of spaghetti. Pop Pasta invented the spaghetti doughnut by combining cooked spaghetti and sauce, then baking it in ring-shaped molds until firm and crispy. Chrissy Teigen Manages Coconuts in New Vita Coco Ad

If you thought Chrissy Teigen was a jack of all trades, you haven’t seen anything yet. The model, mother, and cookbook author is adding “plant manager” to her resume with her role in Vita Coco’s newest ad. In the spot, Teigen’s fictional role involves keeping track of the “employees” — aka the coconut trees — through micromanaging and not leaving their side. Her character’s relaxed attitude embodies her personality in real life, which is what the company says drew it to having Teigen in the spot in the first place. “We wanted to create an iconic character — the plant manager — someone who could be in commercials in the future and across channels,” Chris Sojka, co-founder and chief creative officer of the ad agency Madwell, told Adweek.

However, these are not just ordinary balloons — Ansel has explained that when one of these balloons is popped, it turns into a plastic bag, which becomes a convenient receptacle for the slice of cake. “That cake is so fun — we tested so many versions,” Ansel said in a statement. “Different-sized balloons to hold different amounts of helium, weighing every cake by the gram to see how big we could get it until it stopped floating. The testing was hilarious.”

The Starbucks mobile ordering feature launched in September 2015, but since then, customers have noticed that sometimes digital convenience is not nearly as convenient as they thought, and that long lines still awaited them once they went to pick up morning coffee ordered through the Starbucks app. But now Starbucks is testing out mobile-ordering-only stores at its headquarters in Seattle. Any of the coffee chain’s more than 5,000 employees will be able to simply punch in an order on his or her phone and stop by a “walk-through” window to pick it up at either of the headquarters’ two internal cafés — all without having to wait in any line. If all goes well, this completely digital store design could go national.
