Shaker Al Samman didn't just want to open a restaurant, he wanted to open the largest in the world. And on May 15, 2008, that's exactly what he did with his Damascus Gate Restaurant in Syria, which seats 6,014.

18) Hottest Chile

The Chili Factory of Australia has the dubious honor of producing the world's hottest chile. Known as the Trinidad Scorpion, its Scoville Heat Unit is 1,463,700, as tested on March 1, 2011.

17) Largest Cupcake

On Nov. 2, 2011, Georgetown Cupcake, at its shipping headquarters in Sterling, Va., baked a cupcake that was 2,594 pounds, 56 inches in circumference, and 36 inches tall. The event was captured on the TLC reality show DC Cupcakes. C'mon, someone out there can bake a cupcake that's more than 3 feet tall!

Where else but New York would the largest bagel in the world be made? Bruegger's Bagels dropped the 868-pound bagel at the state fair on Aug. 27, 2004.

To celebrate World Tourism Day the Asociación Tres Islas, in Mexico, served  a shrimp cocktail weighing more than 1,187 pounds that needed a cocktail glass 6 feet, 3 inches tall and 4 feet, 5 inches in diameter just to hold it.

On March 8, 2003, in Mexicali, Mexico, the city made a grilled steak taco sure to satisfy any late-night craving that weighed 1,654 pounds and was more than 35 feet long and 33.8 inches wide. It was part of the city's 100th anniversary celebration.

Big Mama's and Papa's Pizzeria in Los Angeles serves a 4-foot, 6-inch pizza that can feed between 50 and 100 people and will set you back $199.99.If you can coordinate it, that's only $4 a head for 50 people!

Chef Jet Tila and a team of more than 300 volunteers from the University of Massachusetts assembled a massive fruit salad weighing 15,291 pounds on Sept. 2, 2013. The salad featured 150 different varieties of fruit.

In a feat that makes Super-Sizing look tame, Adventure Island, in Essex, U.K., served a massive box of fries weighing more than 987 pounds on June 29, 2011.

You can find the largest commercially available hamburger at Juicys Outlaw Grill in Corvallis, Ore. If you want the 777-pounder, just give them a 48-hour head's up and be prepared to drop $5,000.

Nothing says fall like pumpkin pie, and on Oct. 8, 2005, in Ohio, New Bremen Giant Pumpkin Growers baked a pumpkin pie weighing 2,020 pounds that was more than 12 feet long.

Susie's South Forty Confections proved that everything is bigger in Texas when it produced a single piece of toffee weighing in at 2,940 pounds on Sept. 17, 2002. It also was made in the shape of Texas.

Sure to satisfy any chocolate hankering, the largest chocolate bar ever was made by Thorntons PLC on Oct. 7, 2011. It weighed in at more than 12,770 pounds and measured more than 13-by-13-by-1-feet.

Using a portable swimming pool, the cooks at Buca Di Beppo in Anaheim, Calif., made a bowl of pasta weighing 13,786 pounds on March 12, 2010.

Served by Black Bear Casino Resort in Carlton, Minn., on Sept. 2, 2012, the world's largest hamburger tipped the scales at 2,014 pounds. Toppings included tomatoes, lettuce, onion, pickles, cheese, and of course, bacon.

The world's longest sausage measured more than 36 miles long, farther than many people drive to work. It was made by J.J. Tranfield in South Yorkshire, U.K., over two days in October 2000. 

3) Largest Sandwich

Wild Woody's Chill and Grill of Roseville, Mich., unveiled a corned beef sandwich weighing 5,440 pounds on March 17, 2015. It was 17.5 inches thick and measured 12-by-12-feet. It also included lettuce, mustard, and cheese.

2) Largest Lasagna

On June 20, 2012, Poland's Magillo Restaurant made a lasagna that weighed in at 10,725 pounds and measured 82-by-8-by-2-inches. Some of the fillings included carrots, peas, and mozzarella cheese.

The Ferreira do Zêzere City Council, in Portugal, enlisted the help of 55 people to make this 14,225-pound omelette. It was created using more than 145,000 eggs.
