This Proposal at Dominique Ansel Is the Sweetest Thing You'll Read All Day

May they have a lifetime of sweetness!

A customer proposed to his girlfriend at Dominique Ansel in New York after carefully planning the surprise with the bakery.

A proposal inside New York City’s Dominique Ansel Bakery was inspired by a video of one of the bakery’s marshmallow flower blooms. As reported by TODAY Food, 25-year-old Emoniel watched the video and discovered the perfect way to propose to his sweet tooth having 21-year-old girlfriend Arielle.

The Washington state-based couple were already planning to go to New York for a trip to meet Emoniel’s family, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity to contact the Manhattan bakery and put his plan into action.

"Having just finished lunch in downtown Manhattan, I let Arielle know that my uncle was going to pick us up once he finished work to take us to my grandparents' house, and that he worked close to Broadway and Spring Street, so he wanted us to wait in a coffee shop nearby," Emoniel told the publication. "In reality, he said none of those things, I had no idea where he worked, this was all to get her near the bakery."

According to the excited soon-to-be fiancé, Emoniel had been dropping hints that he had a craving for a croissant all while sneakily texting bakery staff. When they passed Dominique Ansel, Arielle suggested that they go inside.

"While we waited in line to order a croissant, I caught Arielle looking at the blossoming hot chocolate on display so I insisted that we order one," he said proving that he anticipated what his fiancé would want very well. Through a sleight of hand he slipped the ring to the employees who placed it inside the flower. The ring was only revealed to her once they were seated in the bakery’s garden and the manager brought the chocolatey drink to their table. She said yes.

The Daily Meal has reached out to Dominique Ansel for a comment and will continue to update this story.
