Tips

  • 7x7's Big Eat 2012 says the paper masala dosa is delicious. Yum!
  • The Dosas are obviously the stats, but don't sleep on the creative appetizers. Pay with Cover and dine without the hassle of the check.
  • Be a purist and order the Masala Dosa with potatoes spiced so perfectly, you won't miss the meat.
  • spinach and fennel dosa...a rare find
  • No chennai chicken during brunch
  • If you can handle the heat, get the spicy mango habanero chutney with your dosa. Pay with Cover to easily split the bill and get out quickly!
  • Try the Duck Delight - #duck giblets on skewers. Traditional Chinese food.
  • Can't go wrong with the simple masala dosa or white truffle dosa!
  • Match your South Indian meal with a refreshing Gin & Tonic. Dosas house-made tonic is infused with black pepper and ginger:
  • Living in India and in SF for business, I finally got to taste authentic Indian dosa. Try the paper masala. Masala tea was bland though.
  • My favorite brunch includes pani puri, dahi batata puri, and a Madras coffee. Light, vegetarian, and VERY tastey.
  • Try the White Truffle Masala Dosa - #kvpinmybelly Impressed with white truffle goodness, but a little greasy.
  • If you are new to the Southern India cuisine, try the three course tasting menu. Great introduction.
  • Zagat 23. Cost $39. plates that "explode with flavor" (and so much spice you may want "lots of water" handy), all backed by "darn good cocktails";
  • Slightly more upscale than neighboring Udupi Palace in ingredients, drink options, and smaller portion sizes.
  • Drink the peony. It's worth traveling very far and waiting very long for.
  • South Indian Gin & Tonic - deliciously infused with cardamom
  • No espresso, but they make French press coffee in this beautiful stainless steel single press
  • Chennai chicken is amazing!
  • Great atmosphere and service, as well as amazing food (yes, dosa). Mango lassi is rich enough to qualify as dessert.
