  • Ridiculous sandwich shop. The 1/3 size is more than enough for one non-fatso person. Roast beef, mozz and eggplant did not disappoint. Can't wait to come back and try the others.
  • Destination-worthy Italian sandwich shop. Don't miss the roast beef and mozzarella.
  • Roast beef, mozz, fried Eggplant, jus. If you're lucky and Nicky Defonte himself is working the slicer, it just may be the best meat & cheese sub you ever eat.
  • Channel your inner Jewish grandmother and get the Corned Beef & Swiss special on Rye.
  • Eat a third of everything!
  • Get the pastrami special or the roast beef special then eat die and repeat
  • Stop at this bare bones sandwich shop during your bike tour of Brooklyn. Get The Dino, the Cuban or the Vinnie Barbarino. A small is good enough, a large is overkill.
  • Stick with the roast beef, fried eggplant and fresh mozzarella. You won't regret it.
  • Douse the peppers and eggs hero, one of our 101 Best Sandwiches in NY, with tomato sauce, the way they do in Red Hook.
  • Get the roast beef, FRIED eggplant & mozz sandwich and eat it at the nearby park, heaven.
  • ride your bike to Defonte's in Red Hook. Get a 1/2 (which is the size of a foot long at subway.) i recommend proscuitto, mozzerella, eggplant, pepper. Ride home fat and happy.
  • Turkey mozz eggplant gravy.
  • Pretty sure in that episode of 30 Rock where the firemen get those amazing hero sandwiches from Brooklyn and won't tell Liz where they are from... they were from Defonte's.
  • Huge huge hugeeeee sandwiches. Authentic Bk staff.
  • Check out Defonte's Sandwich Shop as seen on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives
  • Closes up shop 10-20 minutes before posted closing time. Heartbreaking.
  • Helps me forget about Philly.
  • Great pastrami and great cornbeef
  • Saw this on foodnetwork's Triple D and I just had to try it especially since its so close to the pool I go to. The sandwiches are made with quality ingredients so the taste speaks for itself.
  • Add the cole slaw on any sandwich I recommend it on hot turkey breast.
