Blogger Spotlight: The Kittchen

This week, we're proud to feature Kit Graham of The Kittchen in the Blogger Spotlight. For those new to the column, every Friday, we highlight a member of The Daily Meal's Culinary Content Network, a limited group of bloggers who write about food and drink.

We look to this group of talented food writers for inspiration and participation in The Daily Meal, whether for restaurant recommendations or new recipes to try out for dinner. Our editorial team covers All Things Food and Drink, and we tap the CCN to keep up to speed on what is happening around the country and the world — from fine dining to home cooking.

In addition to blogging at and creating The Kittchen, Kit Graham self-published her first cookbook, The Gourmet Grilled Cheese Cookbook, founded the Windy City Blogger Collective, and was a contestant on Spike TV's competitive cooking show, Frankenfood.

The Kittchen, which she launched in 2011, is home to Kit's many adventures in food, whether it be recipe testing, restaurant reviews, or travel experiences.

The Daily Meal: What is the mission of your blog?
Kit Graham: To inspire people to explore new restaurants, cook at home, and travel.

How did you get started with your blog?
I started to post photos on the food I was cooking on Facebook and my friends wanted the recipes, so they set up a blog and gave me the login.

What are some foods you can't live without?
Cheese, wine, and pasta. Can you tell my mom is from Italian descent?

What are some foods you can't stand?
I can't stand licorice.

What is your proudest blog post?
I am pretty excited about the gif in this post:  Goat Cheese, Butternut Squash, and Sage Stuffed Pork Tenderloin.

What is your biggest blog blunder?
My photos for the first two years. They were so bad.

What is your most memorable comment from a reader?
I love when people write comments or email me about going to Maine. I am from Maine and love helping people plan their trips.

What's on your cooking playlist?
This drives my husband nuts, but I use his 65" TV to listen to the Music Choice Plus "Adult Alternative Station" all the time. I rarely use the TV to watch a show, but it is always playing music when I am in the kitchen.

What are some food blogs you love?
Grandbaby Cakes!

What are some food apps you like?
iDevices — it is an app that connects to my in-oven food thermometer.

What is the best thing about blogging?
The people. I also run the Windy City Blogger Collective, which is a community for bloggers in Chicago, and I am amazing at how friendly and supportive everyone is!

What is the worst thing about blogging?
The rare people who are really mean and competitive and bully you online.

What recipe are you currently obsessed with?
This recipe for Buffalo Chicken Dip is based on a dish that I love at a Chicago restaurant. I think my version is very close to the original.
