In honor of Houseplant Appreciation Day this January 10th, we have a few indoor growing tips, along with the best plants to grow indoors this winter.

In order to successfully grow indoors, you will need to have the proper equipment. To begin with, selecting which plants you want to grow should be determined by space. If you have a small apartment or limited space for pots, choose plants that can be grown in a small space, such as herbs, scallions, or microgreens. If space is not an issue, larger fruit bearing plants like avocados and lemon shrubs are an option.

Be sure to use pots with draining holes, or spread a layer of rocks on the bottom of your container before adding the soil to prevent waterlogging the roots.
