The highest occurrence of obesity in children is amongst 12 – 19 year-olds, where numbers have risen from 4.6% to 20.5% obese American children from 1970 to 2012 according to data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey – that means there are now more than four times as many obese teenagers in America as there were in 1970.
