Vin De Garage Blends With Catalan Michelin Cuisine In Barcelona

The 2 Michelin-starred restaurant Enoteca at Hotel Arts Barcelona is partnering with a micro-winery to offer Michelin dining paired with a "Vin de Garage," that is, a garage wine. 

This unique gastronomic experience is named K22 Bonesvalls (named after the town in the Pendes region where the grapes are grown and the kilometers of the access road to the vineyard), and is the concept of Alemany I Corrio Winery. The wine, which was custom-made for Enoteca, is comprised of 80% Xarel·lo grapes, both old and new barrel. Xarel·lo is a grape variety historically tied to the Penedes region, where the grapes are grown and formed into a diverse range of wine styles. The final 20% of the blend is derived from Chardonnay grapes, one of the world's most widely planted grape varieties. The fresh-to-mouth wine is intended to pair well with the seafood meals of Enoteca restaurant. 

The concept for K22 was informed by Hotel Arts Barcelona's "beverage expert" Jordi Vicente, who conveyed what Michelin diners expect out of a wine experience. The flavors create green apple notes with hints of pineapple, quince and honey and can be tasted exclusively at the high-end Michelin-Starred restaurant.

Partners and creators of the wine label Laurent Corrio and Irene Alemany have been making wine in a humble workspace since 1999. Aligned with the introduction of the new wine, Hotel Arts Barcelona is offering unique enotourism excursions to the winery and garage for guests upon request, where they will have the opportunity to learn about the technique and production behind the blend. Laurent will lead tours and take guests through the fermentation and wine bottling process.
