It’s yet another milestone for The Commons new Tasting Room & Brewery opens Friday today, March 27th 2015 at 5pm. I stopped by the brewery yesterday to check out the new building, an impressive couple steps up from their previously modest tasting room inside their 7bbl brewery. The new building can be seen blocks away and features a more open floor plan, high ceilings, a view of The Commons new 15bbl brewhouse and their old 7bbl on display with a 2nd mezzanine floor for special parties and maybe eventually spill-over. The best new addition? A separate small kitchen and window for the Cheese Annex, a mini version of Steve Jones Cheese Bar that will serve cheeses and small food plates. This huge relocation and expansion takes The Commons from being an underground word-of-mouth destination to a legitimate tourist attraction on the scale of the nearby Cascade Barrel House.
The Commons Brewery is now located on the corner of SE 7th and Belmont in inner Portland with entrances on both 7th and on Belmont. The building is hard to miss and is easily accessible by bike and public transportation, they dont have a parking lot but there is minimal street parking. Much expanded new tasting room hours start on Saturday and they will be open from Noon to 10pm Tuesday through Sunday.
