These pies have staying power. Located in the heart of Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood, Co. (pronounced Company) opened in 2009 in a competitive pizza market. But its quality pies have more than staying power. Jim Lahey, owner of Sullivan Street Bakery (which was featured on this list in 2013 at No. 73), opened Co. to offer his spin on Roman-style pizza to Chelsea residents while focusing on the communal dining experience.

Co. serves traditional options, but also pies with flare. Take for example the signature Popeye — pecorino, Gruyère, mozzarella, spinach, black pepper, and garlic — which layers salt and chew, bite and green, and just a little edge. Perhaps the only thing better is when Lahey goes egg. In which case, order two.

  • Great pizza, soups, salads, artisanal meat and cheese selections.
  • Go to Co. and get the Stracciatella pizza. It is amazingly delish.
  • Co. undoubtedly offers one of the better pies you will find in NYC. We recommend the artichoke salad, the meatballs, and the shiitake pie, but it truly is all good.
  • Both the stracciatella and meatball pizzas are the shiz
  • Our concierge Paul at 60 Thompson recommends dodging the crowds at Eataly and heading four blocks West for some of the best pizza in New York. The Popeye is fantastic.
  • Jim Lahey's pizzas have chewy crusts with blistered edges, and the toppings are fresh. The spinach-topped Popeye is the must-order dish here, but also consider the flamb pizza or the cauliflower pie.
  • If ordering just one pie, the Popeye is the way to go.
  • Starving artists won't say no to Jim Lahey's amazing pizza. The wood-burning oven, imported from Italy, churns out Roman style pizza with toppings that range from the iconic to the creative.
  • Try the Ham And Cheese Pizza - #prosciuto #noms
  • They're open all day, so it's great and no wait to hit for a very late lunch or early dinner. Also, they happily do takeout (as well as hyper-local delivery) and everything on the menu travels well.
  • Just went to my top NYC pizzas
  • Try the popeye !
  • Just threw in the bathroom.
  • order the ham and cheese pizza. delish!
  • Order the Popeye Pizza and blow your mind.
  • Love this place. Owner of Sullivan St Bakery opened this spot up across the street from one of my favorite Chinese food restaurants. Crust is expectedly unstoppable.
  • This, my followers, is THE BIZ! Don't overlook the appetizers, or the salads, or the wine list. And add a pie. It's all delicious.
  • According to Adam: "Veal meatballs that you seriously want to pour all over your body and lick up every drop. So damn good."
  • Get the Truffles pizza which is on the secret menu
  • It was good I liked the pizza.
