Foursquare Tips

  • Head to the second floor to experience CMAs newly renovated art research library, the 3rd largest in the United States.
  • Bring your ipad!! Or you will miss out on the Gallery One experience.
  • Look for "The Kiss of Peace and Justice," a 1654 oil painting by Laurent de La Hyre, which depicts an embrace between a warrior who's just shed his armor and a woman whose face you cannot see.
  • Consider joining. Free entrance to the exhibitions, memberships are inexpensive, and you get invited to tons of member events. Plus the magazine will look very sophisticated on your coffee table.
  • Monet and Fabrege, need I say more!
  • Look no further than the front steps to see the iconic The Thinker statue. Police believe the disfigured statue was the target of a homemade bomb. Seen on Travel Channels Mysteries at the Museum.
  • You owe it to yourself to visit the The Glory of the Painted Page exhibit before it's gone. Simply stunning examples of illuminated manuscripts from the CMA's permanent collection. Breathtaking!
  • Go to the new contemporary wing. It will take more than one visit to take it all in.
  • It was absolutely beautiful. I am a Art major and I really enjoyed it. I am not from the area about 2 hours away and it's so worth the trip! I love that it's free to get in you can't get any better.
  • Never miss a good opportunity to visit. And it's free!
  • Take your iPad (or rent one) and wander with ArtLens, an app with nine hours of tours and trivia. Stop into the interactive Gallery One for a taste of the masters (Picasso, Rodin, and Chuck Close).
  • The Cleveland Museum of Art is renowned for the quality and breadth of its collection, which includes almost 45,000 objects and spans 6,000 years of achievement in the arts.
  • Check Provenance restaurant! Service and food are excellent!!
  • Rembrandt in America (through May 28) is the first major exhibition to examine Rembrandts paintings and the evolving opinions of scholars regarding what constituted a Rembrandt autograph.
  • My favorite time to visit the museum is when there's a special exhibit showing. I feel as though I'm getting double my money's worth! :")
  • Come as early as possible for absolutely peaceful galleries!
  • Go see the Van Gogh's and then sit in the Rodin room with all the sculptures to meditate
  • The Cleveland Museum of Art is a wonderful place to go and see beautiful works of art. It is midway through a 6-year, $258-million expansion, designed by internationally renowned architect Rafael
  • Wasn't expecting it to be this incredible. Needs at least three hours just to walk through. Treasure trove of paintings, statutes and installations from all art periods and styles.
  • Be sure to stop by Gallery One. It features the largest multi-touch microtile screen in the United States!
