Tips
- Skip past the abnormally long waitlist for inside dining , and instead head out back for dining ala' cart. That line moves fast and food is exactly the same as inside.
- the welsh rarebit is very tasty.
- Get the pulled pork sandwich for only $8.50. Great deal.
- Try the corn chowder-it's very tasty.
- BBQ sandwich is on point! (That means it taste good).
- If you want to experience authentic colonial dining, any of the taverns in Colonial Williamsburg will work. Chownings is a good one - good food and atmosphere.
- Witch's Revenge - dark and light rum, apricot brandy, and pineapple juice. Nice, not too strong or sweet
- The braised short rib sandwich, au jus, and garlic mashed potatoes was amazing! Don't pass up the root beer. It's the best I've ever had.
- There's a beer they make in town here that they don't sell anywhere else in the world
- Get the chopped salad
- Turkey Trencher and a pint of ale!
- Turkey Trencher! Also...get a pint of ale!
- Really good food. Something special
- Beer is good
- Beer flight is a good sample of beers I've never tried!
- Liebotschaner Cream Ale, cold, smooth and delicious! Drink two, like they did in the Olde Days!
- Have a drink around back, very cool outside atmosphere.
- CROWDED. We waited 15 minutes to be told they might have a table for us. When we were finally seated at the bar, we waited another 20 minutes until we finally left.... UNDER STAFFED AND RUDE SERVICE
- The bean soup and sampler. So so delicious
- Hot buttered rum and brisket pocket is amazing.
