Can't Play an Instrument? Not a Problem With the "World's Most Luxurious Piano"

Goldfinch is calling their newest offering the “world’s most luxurious piano.” Why? Because they’ve covered nearly every inch of the Steinway with Swarovski crystals—half a million, to be exact. With help from British contemporary artist Lauren Baker, the bespoke company spent six months on the custom-made instrument, applying every crystal by hand.

Worth £420,000 ($627,087), the Crystal Piano was commissioned by a wealthy Sheikh in Qatar and was recently delivered to his home in Doha from Goldfinch’s headquarters in Cambridge, England. “It’s been a delight to bring another customer’s dream to reality. We love nothing more than blurring the lines between timeless tradition and contemporary British art, but it’s not all about good looks—our craftsmanship is combined with cutting edge technology for that seamless finish and ultimate musicality,” says Goldfinch director Tomas Norman.

The Crystal Piano was also altered so that it can play itself through “invisible controls,” an option that Goldfinch offers on any of their customizations. Finally! Pianos for those of us who can’t actually play the instrument.
