Burger of the Month Specials: July ’16

Let’s start then with a show of hands by those who have served or eaten these burger toppings: bourbon-bacon jam, wasabi-ginger aïoli or a hot-sauce-dipped Louisiana hot link. I see hands, which isn’t surprising because the July Burger of the Month specials are pretty restrained, at least by burger-chef standards.

Burger Boss's Red, White & Blue Burger

Burger Boss’s Red, White & Blue Burger

It’s July, so a lot of red-white-and-blue burger ideas are here, including, literally, a Red, White & Blue Burger from Burger Boss in Elmwood Park, Ill. (red onion, blue cheese, a white bun and more). There’s also a Firecracker Burger from Georgie Porgie’s in Oak Creek, Wis. (with pepper-Jack cheese and jalapeňo mayo).

Also in tune with the Fourth are The All-American at Bucket List Burgers in Riverside, Calif., and Kooper’s All-American Double Cheeseburger at Kooper’s Tavern in and around Baltimore. Never one to be outdone, Slater’s 50/50 in Southern California brings back the ‘Merica Burger and its salute to bacon (its signature 50/50 bacon/beef patty, bacon American cheese, BBQ spiced bacon, Frank’s Red Hot Sauce-dipped Louisiana hot link, sriracha bacon slaw, bacon baked beans, bread & butter pickles, onion strings, honey mustard on Texas toast grilled in bacon fat).

Kuma's Too's Weekend Nachos Burger

Kuma’s Too’s Weekend Nachos Burger

So aside from the kangaroo-beef blend burger at London’s BOBO Social, the burgers are fairly sane. Even the usually out-there Kuma’s locations aren’t crazy. Kuma’s Too in Chicago is featuring a Weekend Nachos burger this month (a 10-oz. beef patty with Merkts Cheddar, jalapeño, pico de gallo, pickled red onion, tortilla strips and cilantro). All this means more ideas for your next menu special. You can work through the list of all July Burgers of the Month here, made possible by the sponsorship of Reinhart Foodservice. Enjoy the summer.
