Tips
- Dave Arnold joins the Momofuku team to transform Bar Bar into a lounge slinging perfectly pre-batched Manhattans, drinks made with hot pokers, plenty of liquid nitrogen, and a pork-heavy snack menu.
- Go balls deep with the Bols Deep. Basically an old fashioned with a gin flavor.
- Reynolds is an AWESOME bartender. He brings the show and non-douchey personality. Win.
- If you thought Momofukus food was inventive, wait until you see them make their cocktails! Sit at the bar and enjoy a Manhattan or Bangkok Daiquiri.
- Try the Lady of the Night--centrifuge clarified. And the chicharron jack! And anything Red Hot Poker-ed--worth it just to see the flames.
- A plate of Benton's Smoky Mountain Ham will totally make you forget that once upon a time, this place was the Milk Bar.
- Perfect for the cold season, Bishop's Wife is a minty cognac drink warmed with the red hot poker and served in a tea cup.
- The only time I've left a 50% tip and wondered if it was too small. Sit at the bar; amazing customer service.
- The picture on the wall is of Dave Arnold's sculpture MFA project at Columbia, where he recreated the story of St George with a kerosene powered dragon, sending him to the hospital.
- An absolute must-try: Cocktail & A Cookie... Their Rye-Molasses was unexpectedly one of the most amazing cookies I have ever had.
- Order the pork buns! I'm not kidding! Don't be stupid!!
- Ask Jane for the "Choose Your Own Adventure".
- Try the "Laurel and Hardy" cocktail made with Louis Royer "Force 53" VSOP Cognac. It's magnificent!
- The corsair comes with a Miller High Life. I know.
- Grab a drink while waiting for your table at Ssam Bar next door, though if you're late for your table because you can't stop drinking here, the host/hostess may come over and frown at you.
- Try a Friend of the Devil not only is it delicious, but worth it just to watch the barkeep wield a flame-throwing, red-hot poker to make it. For more, follow us on 4sq or at www.renhotels.com.
- Great drinks, I recommend sitting at the bar so you can truly appreciate all the work that goes into one glass. Ask questions!
- Get the French Colombian. It's ammmazing!
- The Hindenberg is nice: cognac base, but hints of bananas and caramel. We also liked the carbonated gin and juice.
- Pork buns until 3am!
