Ten blocks can mean different worlds in New York City, with plenty of room for like concepts to flourish. Still, for a burger luncheonette to open within that distance of Burger & Barrel, the New York City Wine & Food Festival’s reigning burger champs (he's won five times in six years), its owners have to be confident that they have a quality concept and a product that can fill a neighborhood niche. Co-owner Chris Barish and his chef-partner Joe Isidori, the men behind Black Tap, SoHo’s newest burger joint, think they have just that: honest burgers made with good ingredients in a modern, clean interpretation of what they’re describing as a casual luncheonette. — Arthur Bovino, 3/20/2015

  • The classic burger is great, but were more about the Mexican: a chorizo burger with jack cheese, pickled jalapeos and chipotle mayo. Followed by a decadently thick milkshake, of course.
  • Best burger I've had in a long time. Great sides & a bunch of beers on tap. Seating is all at the bar which gives it a great old burger joint vibe. Finally, the burger salad will blow your face off.
  • Bar seating only so just come w/ one friend. Get the all American burger, so delish! Def worth the #2 Foursquare ranking for best burger (behind Minetta) protip: ask them to make you cheese fries.
  • It was love at first bite. Hands down the best burger I've had in NY! That soft potato bun & crumbling patty, melting in my mouth. Mmmm.
  • Superb variety of delicious burger! The bison burger comes with fresh mozzarella, rucchola and Parmesan. The Californian one brings a strong blue cheese taste.
  • Great burger, fries and classic hip hop tunes. Def. a contender for best burger in NYC. Don't forget to tag the restroom!
  • Top notch burgers and draft selection! Personal favorite is the Gangster Duck
  • Worth the wait! I love their original burger - cooked perfectly! Obviously their milkshakes are the main attraction. I loved the cookies and cream shake!
  • Great burger. Skip the wings.
  • Texan burger is super delicious and super filling - come hungry!
  • Worthy of all the hype, good guys making great food. If the counter's full they'll let you drink a beer on the front step while you wait.
  • Burgers!!!
  • Felafel burger was incredible, as is their Texan burger!
  • They make burgers here. Good burgers. They put other good things on those burgers, like cheese. You should eat these cheeseburgers and probably get a beer, too.
  • Nunca imaginei comer um hambrguer to bom em um lugar to simples, pode ir sem medo de entrar, isto se voc conseguir entrar rsrsrs, vale a pena, esto de parabns
  • Look past everything on the menu and settle on The Spicy Mexican. A chorizo burger with jack cheese and chipotle mayo. You'll be very happy. It's unbelievable!
  • Ask for a chocolate & vanilla milk shake to finish your meal appropriately. Other milk shakes are on the menu.
  • Greg Norman and Texan are amazing
  • A top 5 NYC burger. Standouts: The Texan with with crispy onion and bacon, and the Greg Norman with wagyu beef. Huge tasty milkshakes. Great draft beers, too.
  • Excellent service and impressive tap selection
