Billy's Bakery in New York City provides its customers classic American baked goods in a warm, friendly atmosphere. The 1940s-style stores fill with the smell of baking cupcakes every morning, bringing forth waves of nostalgia for Grandma's kitchen. But Grandma's never baked like this before — each classic cupcake is topped with a memorable swirl of frosting, gracefully piped with a hollow center. If you ever get the chance to stop by any of its three locations, go for a Banana Nutella Cupcake. — Marilyn He, 11/8/2012

  • Liu Wen stops in to satisfy her sweet tooth with a cupcake or two. We love to watch the bakers work and to take in Billys vintage dcor and old-school kitsch.
  • Try the red velvet layer cake. It has just enough cocoa to deliver a hint of chocolate, & have it frosted with either cream cheese icing or vanilla frosting.
  • One of our favorites
  • Really good cupcakes. I've also had cake from here and it too was quite tasty.
  • Good cupcakes, but cloyingly sweet. You're probably going to need a black coffee. Only get one cupcake. No possible way you're going to need more than that. You can even share with 2 or 3 people.
  • Go within an hour of closing and ask for a slice of whatever it looks like they have to most left of. You will leave with 1/4 of a cake as your 'slice'
  • Rachel Zoe must have had one of these banana cupcakes before she coined her signature phrase. Don't forget to take home their new baking mixesyou never know when the cravings will hit.
