Black Truffles
For special occasions, few foods evoke a feeling of luxury and celebration like the otherworldly aroma of fresh truffles.  In this lasagna, fresh winter truffles are paired with silky pasta and rich Castelmagno cheese to create a dish full of powerful flavors. Sauce périgourdine, the traditional French truffle sauce, adds an additional layer of truffle flavor. For more traditional recipes, check out some of our best lasagna recipes.

Winter Couscous
This couscous goes with any winter meal. The citrus adds flavor and warmth, and the dried fruit is a hint of sweetness to the comforting and filling side dish. Can be doubled. —Elizabeth KurtzThis recipe is by Elizabeth Kurtz and was originally published in the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

'Long Winter' Bread recipe - The Daily Meal
This rustic bread is named after the "Little House on the Prairie" book in which it appears. It's made with ground wheat berries, bacon drippings and a homemade sourdough starter. Enjoy a warm hunk (with freshly churned butter, of course) and imagine a life on the prairie. This recipe is adapted from "The Little House Cookbook: Frontier Foods From Laura Ingalls Wilder's Classic Stories" by Barbara M. Walker (Harper Collins, 1989). It was originally published in the Chicago Tribune.

winter squash
Somehow thanksgiving stuffing can be the best thing on the holiday table. I use winter squash combined with mushrooms to make a delicious dish for our celebration or for any day of the week.V Is for Vegetables recipes courtesy Little, Brown and Company Copyright © 2015 by Michael Anthony and Dorothy Kalins Ink, LLC.

Roasted Eggplant & Spinach Quesadilla
I had this really brilliant eggplant quesadilla while visiting friends in Syracuse. I don't remember what else was in it, but it was definitely the best cheeseless quesadilla I've ever tasted. That experience inspired me to come up with my own version (since I couldn't remember theirs), so here it is. And, you know, actually I think mine might be better. Just sayin'... Paleo Pumpkin Bars
Pumpkin season is my favorite time of year. When the days get shorter, the nights cool and crisp, I indulge in my fascination with those odd-shaped, brightly colored vegetables known as winter squash.Pumpkin is a type of winter squash, and I use a variety of winter squash in my pumpkin recipes. For these Paleo Pumpkin Bars I chose roasted acorn squash, though you could just as easily select sugar pumpkin (a smaller, denser, tastier version of the more ubiquitous pumpkins used for jack-o'-lanterns), kabocha, butternut, buttercup, carnival, or delicata, with fabulous results.See all squash recipes.
