Black pepper might seem like an odd addition to ice cream, but when paired with a rich base, smooth honey balsamic and fresh strawberries the spice adds a welcome woodiness. This summer treat bursts with so many flavors, it's hard to choose which one we like best! Recipe courtesy of Salt & Straw

Cornetti recipe - The Daily Meal
Cornetti are the croissant's richer, sweeter cousin. Make these crescent-shaped Italian pastries on the weekend, when you have time to properly prepare and shape the dough. Cornetti are a labor of love, for sure, but when you bite into one, you will swear you are back in Rome or Florence, sitting at your favorite outdoor cafe. This recipe is by Domenica Marchetti, author of "Ciao Biscotti: Sweet and Savory Recipes for Celebrating Italy's Favorite Cookie" (Chronicle Books, 2015), and was originally published in the Chicago Tribune.

Strawberry Jam
Here's a quick and easy recipe for fresh strawberry jam that I hope you'll make over and over again. It only takes about 15 minutes and I think the flavor is just incomparable to the jarred stuff, but you be the judge. And, unlike the jarred stuff, you'll know exactly what's going in it: just strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Serve these with your favorite scones, croissants, or just some plain toast in the morning. Since this isn't a sterilized product, it is probably a good idea to treat it like any other perishable food product, however. Refrigerate any unused portion and consume within a few days. Enjoy! Disclaimer: I did not make the croissant. Click here for 6 Sweet and Savory Strawberry Recipes.
