Top Rated Fish Taco Recipes

This meal is the opposite of what I think of when I think of fish tacos. These are light. Fresh tasting. Clean. Flavorful. These were so good that my husband and I were scraping the bits from the bottom of the pan. These fish tacos are going to be a staple in this house from now on. I made them about two weeks ago and honestly, I cannot wait to make them again. Click here to see 15 Easy Fish Recipes for Summer.

Grilled Fish Tacos
This fish taco recipe is simple and straightforward — no frills, easy prep, and made from fresh, healthy ingredients. The jicama slaw adds a bright crunch to the Cajun-spiced tilapia and can be prepped ahead of time. Don’t forget to throw those corn tortillas on the grill to give them a slightly smoky and crispy touch. Last but not least, don’t be shy on the lime; that kick never fails to put a smile on my face.  Click here to see the Thinking of Japan story.

I'm not one to toot my own horn, but when it comes to making fish tacos, I'm boss. The secret? Using Panko breadcrumbs for the crust. It gives the fish a super crunch — perfect against the creamy avocado spread and tangy pickled onions. Simply put: If you're in need of a celebrate-warm-weather dish, this is it.   The work of chef Richard Sandoval, this fish taco recipe comes together with just six ingredients and provides a light, easy summertime dish. We like how the fish is marinated in a classic salsa before being sautéed to perfection, and we also found this recipe is flexible enough to swap in whatever fish you’ve got on hand, like the freshly caught tuna you have sitting in the cooler after a day of fishing.

Tacos have been part of Mexico's culinary heritage for more than 100 years. These folded tortillas can be stuffed with any number of fillings — with each Mexican state claiming stake to their own. Fish tacos are said to come from Baja California, Mexico's northernmost state. While the original fish taco was made with deep-fried fish, this recipe — made with sautéed fish — is a delicious and fresh version. This recipe is easily doubled, which makes it a great dish to make when entertaining a crowd.

Fish Taco
Our friend Jennie went to culinary school and works as a professional chef at an Upper West Side restaurant we can’t afford to go to. For one potluck we hosted, she made us fish tacos with all the fixings, allowing the rest of us to bring quick complements — dishes from quesadillas to cheese platters to fruit spreads to the aforementioned cake — in order to hold up our ends of the bring-your-own bargain, while chef Jennie’s artful buffet stole the show. This is Jennie’s recipe. However, having eaten our fill of this and other of Jennie’s delicious creations, we vouch for it completely.

Fish Tacos and Gazpacho
Fish tacos are transformed from casual taco truck fare to a sophisticated starter when they are loaded with citrus-marinated cod, a creamy avocado topping, spicy jalapeño, and sweet mangos. I’ve always thought that the best design is most often the simplest, and these fish tacos, in their stylish and vibrant lime holder, drive that point home. Refreshing gazpacho shooters made with lots of fresh herbs, green grapes, and cucumber produce a great balance to the sweet-spicy taco crunch.

During one spring break, my family and I took a cruise around the Caribbean. While we were on the ship, my grandmother mentioned again and again how tasty flying-fish sandwiches are. We thought she was crazy to believe in flying fish! True enough, when we got to Barbados, we saw some flying fish. These fish actually jump out of the water, fly for a short distance, fall back into the water, and then do it all over again. Later that day, we visited a restaurant in a little shack on the beach. Of course we ordered flying-fish sandwiches, which were crispy, flaky, light, and delicate. Obviously, we don’t have flying fish in the United States, but those memories inspired me to create my own version of the fish dish. I wanted to take the flavors of the Caribbean and incorporate them into my own tacos.

I have never really been a fish fan until my husband and I decided to start eating it for the health benefits. Since then we have found quite a few good recipes and I have really enjoyed eating it. One recipe I have not tried, but heard several people mention was fish tacos. I thought I would try making my own fish tacos, a healthy version, after hearing about how most fish tacos are fried.
