The Route 40 Paintball Park has four playing fields for players. Players, playing on teams, shoot their paintball guns at the opposing team’s players. Route 40 Paintball provides semi-auto paintball marker guns to players. New players pay $20 for the use of the semi-auto paintball marker and a set of safety gear that includes a full face mask covering the face, chin, ears and eyes. It is strongly recommended that players wear long-sleeve shirts and long pants for adequate protection against scratches and hits.

The Adventure Park at Sandy Spring Friends School is fun for the entire family, including kids from age five and up. This aerial forest adventure consists of 13 trails of varying degrees of difficulty. Participants are given a harness, the required equipment and given a thorough safety briefing. Each of the 13 trails at The Adventure Park has ziplines, bridges, ropes, tree platforms and wooden structures.

Liberty Mountain Resort is an all-season facility offering skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing and golf. Snowboarders can choose from five all-terrain parks. Beginner snowboarders can practice elementary skills at West Side Park, while expert snowboarders can experiment with cool tricks at Vertigo Park and Adventure Alley. Not ready for skiing or snowboarding? Then give snow tubing a whirl. Liberty Mountain Resort has 15 carved lanes with a carpeted lift. Non-snow tubers can observe the action from the two-level lodge’s observation deck.
Walking the C&O Canal

The C&O Canal was one of America’s earliest transportation routes. Walkers can discover the history of the C&O Canal while they walk the trails. Visitors to the C&O Canal can join the walking trail at the following locations” Great Falls Tavern, Potomac; Brunswick; Ferry Hill Place, Sharpsburg; Williamsport; and Cumberland. All of these locations on the C&O Canal are open over the winter season. Visitors can bike, boat or kayak, camp, bird watch, hike, fish, horseback ride or cross-country ski.
