Family photography sessions can result in a collective groan from your brood, but you know that you will treasure the images forever. Working with a photographer who makes you all comfortable can improve the experience for everyone involved. We have selected a few local photographers so you can make an informed decision about who you will work with this year. All of them have extensive galleries online, and it’s always a great idea to check out their shots before making that initial contact.
Lindsey McIntosh Photography
Lindsey McIntosh is one of the most in-demand family photographers in Atlanta, so book her early if you’d like an appointment. Her specialty is baby and child photography, so a gift of her services would make a great present for new or expectant parents. She has several examples of her work showing her use of natural light on her website. A mother herself, she appreciates the joys and challenges of photographing families.
Erica Aitken Photography
Erica Aitken prides herself on her ability to make each member of the family feel comfortable during her family photography sessions. She encourages families to interact naturally rather than sticking to a contrived pose. She loves children and enjoys working with families of all age ranges. She is also available for events like birthday parties in addition to more formal sessions.
Bonnie J. Heath Photography
Bonnie J. Heath is an Atlanta-based photographer specializing in weddings, portraits and family sessions. For locations inside the perimeter, her rate is $150 per hour, with one hour recommended for 3-5 people and two hours for larger groups. Rates increase by $50 per hour for locations outside the perimeter. Shoots take place outdoors at a variety of locations. One of her tips is that she suggests wearing solid-colored outfits rather than stripes or loud patterns, as these will result in better images.
