  • This is the real thing. A place for Gotham insiders. Gold leaf ceilings and enchanting murals by Madeline author and illustrator Ludwig Bemelmans. Arrive by 8pm and take a small table near the piano.
  • At the only place where Bemelmans art work is publicly displayed, Tony has a martini saying a room like this calls for a classic. As seen on Travel Channels The Layover with Anthony Bourdain.
  • Enter Bemelmans in the Carlyle Hotel through an unassuming door off the lobby. Expensive drinks but one of the finest atmospheres in the city, complete with dim lighting and a piano player.
  • if you are about to leave this world and pass to the other side... spend your last eve dancing here, dance until they tell you they don't allow dancing anymore! why? ...'cause you can.
  • The Pisco Sour is delish! Another Sour, the "Bradshaw" (after SATC's Carrie Bradshaw) is a great tequila cocktail...
  • Ludwig Bemelmans painted murals of Central Park at the Hotel Carlyle Bar in 1947, in exchange for living accommodations. Definitely check this place out.
  • Most amazing place in the world. Get a whiskey smash and listen to chris gillespie or loston harris on the piano.
  • Congratulations, you've found one of Esquire's Best Bars in America. Order a stinger. They'll be cold and crisp, with the cognac outweighing the crme de menthe, the way they should be.

  • This historical landmark and restaurant's namesake is Madeline creator Ludwig Bemelman. Both kids and adults will have the best time admiring the great food, artworks, and decor here.
  • Step inside the swanky Carlye Hotel to find Bemelmans Bar, named for the Austrian-born artist who created Madeline children's books.

  • Takes you back to classic New York. Definitely stay for the jazz after 9:30.
  • Holy Art Deco check out that gold leaf ceiling the atmosphere is unlike anything else in NYC. Enjoyed best with a few friends who love a classic cocktail and pleasant music.
