  • Winter time + midweek + Backroom + fireplace = one of the better spots on a cold night in Lower East Side (backup plan: fireplace @ The Delancey). Just watch out for the dbags!
  • This spot is trendy cool, but charging $8 a teacup of $9 a bottle wine is far too greedy in my taste. Any place taking advantage of its customers in this manner is not anywhere I want to be.
  • This place blows. The tea cups aren't even tea cups. Their coffee mugs, and why the fuck would I want to drink my cocktail out of a mug?
  • cool speakeasy bar. there's no sign, you go down the stairs and the entrance is at the back of the building. there's a secret room behind a bookshelf. fridays and saturdays are 25+ to enter.
  • Don't wear flip flops in general, ever.
  • try to get in the back behind the bookshelf. it's awesome!
  • FUN FACT: Cocktails are enjoyable and served in true Prohibition style teacups.
  • Mixologists need a little more training. Just go for a beer instead. Safer bet.
  • This place really cares about environment, cups/mugs for all drinks, bags for all bottles, really pushing the speakeasy persona, good crowd, reasonable prices, great ambience, nice couches
  • Lucky Luciano conducted his business here, true story
  • How do u get into the secret room? Password? One of the best bars in NY
  • Go on a Monday night and enjoy the live band and 20s style swing dancing. Talk to the friendly dancers and ask them for a dance if you're keen.
  • Back Room fronts as a closed toy shop. Creep down an alley to find the entrance. Drinks are served in teacups. The front door has a peek-and-speak hole, and a sliding bookcase reveals a second bar.
  • The Bees Knees tastes like a screwdriver (college!) with honey, if that's your thing.
  • The bees knees is the way to go. If a bouncer named CJ is working tell him you live in Texas and he'll let you in.
  • "Eventually... Why not?"
  • Got into the secret room for about 30 seconds until the bouncer kicked us out
  • Don't bother with the cocktails on the menu - they're not as interesting as they pretend to be, and they're served over ice that melts much too quickly. Order wine or whiskey instead!
  • Drinks are in tea cups and really strong!
  • Catching Svetlana & The Delancey Five on Monday nights is a must! Ask one of the swing dancer regulars for a dance!
