  • Amazing kanpachi. Halibut + black truffle. Everything is amazballs. I thought I had been to the best sushi places in the valley until I came here.
  • Ventura Boulevard is wall-to-wall with sushi bars but the most unique, one-of-a-kind sushi experience is Asanebo. Don't askjust enjoy. -David Applebaum, Launch My Line
  • Best japaneese food in town! Realy the best!
  • No reservations at the counter. If possible, sit at the longer side of the counter. Omakase for first timers, but go for the nigiri--it's Edomae style. Best in Los Angeles.
  • Shige-san is the man!
  • Great food. Will definitely come again. Fav dishes include Halibut truffle , Japanese sawara, Kanpachi miso, Seabass lettuce, Sea perch sushi, Yellow tail sushi, Eel sushi, Sea bass miso soup

  • The only displeasure to be found at Asanebo (unless you happen to be a prawn!!!) comes with the check, which will be high....
  • Try the omikase. It's an amazing sampling of sushi. All excellent, though the uni is definitely an acquired taste.
  • "They take amazing care in sourcing their fish. Their simplistic and refined approach really makes this place special." Chef Mark Gold
  • WAY overpriced and bad food!
  • Dont be surprised if you run into a celebrity or two here Asanebo inspires fierce loyalty in its customers, many of whom just happen to be movie stars.
  • The sushi and sashimi are pristine if youre lucky, youll get something truly special, such as a recent wild yellowtail called himi kan buri.
  • The best bet is to go for the full omakase, where you can expect dishes such as uni on corn custard, halibut topped with copious shaved black truffle, and Japanese birthday cake."
  • It looks like a million other sushi restaurants in any other strip mall anywhere in America, but Asanebo might be the place to remind you why you fell in love with sushi in the first place.
