Tips

  • don't be that guy who runs the wrong way around the loop!
  • This loop is a great for runners or cyclists, with varying terrain, horse poop obstacles, and its lit for an evening run, ride or stroll.
  • The big hill before Grand Army Plaza never gets any easier. Its better to run up it fast to get it over with!
  • Defeat the hill!
  • Best times to run are weekdays in the early morn if you can. Gets very crowded in the evenings and on weekends.
  • watch out for the horse poop. It's a moving target! and who's that guy kicking the huge ball up the hill?
  • Me & my bike love the loop
  • If you run clockwise, people will give you dirty looks. (To that I say, whatev. Gotta even it out.)
  • three loops = 10 miles
  • I don't get the counterclockwise hate. It's got two lanes people. There's even pictures!! (See picture)
  • If you're running counter-clockwise, there's a serious hill for the last .5 mile. You'll pass me on it.
  • Don't be the loser running in the center or in the wrong direction. Toughen up and run up the big hill.
  • Great scenery, good escape from the hustle and bustle. :)
  • Don't be a wuss, do the stairs before the lake
  • PHOTO: Skaters charge from the starting line to begin the 26.2 mile Brooklyn Rollathon in 1980, at the link!
  • Try walking/running the opposite way the traffic flows for a different experience and view of the park.
  • the water fountain under the shade of the trees next to the grand army plaza entrance has the coldest water.
  • Inside of the path for clockwise running, outside for counterclockwise
  • On Sunday, March 18, the Park Slope St. Patrick's Day Parade steps off at 1 p.m., starting at Prospect Park West and 14th Street.
  • Watch out for people who can't read the signs as to where to run/walk vs. where to bike.
