Tips

  • "Escape the bustling city & enjoy the largest metropolitan zoo in the U.S. with 600+ species. Check out the congo gorilla forest, butterfly garden, jungle world & the monkey house. Free on Wednesdays"
  • On Wednesdays it's a "Suggested Donation" day which includes everything but a camel ride. So take a personal day and spend it exploring the wild wonders of the Animal Kingdom.
  • The Sopranos happened here. Tony Soprano takes Mercedes car saleswoman, Gloria Trillo, here on a date and things get a little hot in the reptile house.
  • Bronx zoo = Best birth control ever
  • Spend some time at the Sea Lions exhibit. But be careful - you can easily lose track of time and spend hours there!
  • Watch Dora & Diegos 4-D Adventure, a 3-D movie starring our favorite amigos on a mission to save the rainforest with cool effects like air blasts, scents and more. Powered by ParentsConnect.com
  • On Wednesdays, you can enjoy a nice free trip to the Bronx Zoo! It's a great place to explore the exhibitions of nature and wildlife. The bear and lion showcases make it seem like you're in the wild!
  • Make sure @BronxZoosCobra is still here.
  • Stop banging on the glass and screaming. You're Not only pissing of the animals.
  • Never come here on free Wednesdays. There are tons of shitty kids.
  • Free on Wednesdays
  • There hasn't been a year in the entire history of the zoo when an animal didn't escape. Most of the time it's a small bird or snake, but in 1982 it was a rare and dangerous panther.
  • One of the best zoos I've seen - well worth a visit. Visit on a cloudy day, and the animals will be super active. Try to see the polar bear in early afternoon.
  • Take the express bus from Manhattan...much better than the subway. Also, go on a weekday in the Spring if you can. You'll avoid the crowds.
  • Find the Jungle World building in the Asia section. Very low profile entrance but it's huge and amazing. End up deep down at the Jungle Waterfall room with underwater view of huge fish
  • When you see zoo volunteers/ employees, ask them questions! Heard some cute anecdotes about specific animals this way.
  • One of the most popular places that people like to explore in the Bronx is the Bronx Zoo! Great place to bring kids so they can explore a variety of different animal exhibitions and the wildlife!
  • Total experience package is definitely worth it!
  • Get there early if you want to see everything, you can easily spend a whole day here :)
  • Grab a map because the zoo is huge. Remember to bring a stroller for the little ones, or rent one at the park. Be sure to visit the sea lions; they're a noisy, fun bunch.
