Foursquare Tips

  • Miles Thompson may only be 24, but his elevated vision is evident in his gorgeous menu divided into 6 sections. Open only since January, Allumette will be featured at LA Weekly's #PLATE this year
  • Needs reservations or find a seat at the bar. Great drinks and food.
  • In the crudo section, a shimaji dish with miso, blood orange and kiwi is bright and standard if you like fruit with your fish, but the live scallop tartar knocked me on my ass.
  • The guinea hen eggs at the center of the Scotch eggs are lightly pickled and served with a pungent herb sauce halfway between an Italian salsa verde and an Argentine chimichurri.
  • The warm potato chips, five precisely, are topped with a tiny spoonful of yuzu-spiked crme frache each, a few salmon eggs and precisely angled garlic chives.
  • Recommended dishes: Potato chips with salmon roe and yuzu crme frache; ankimo with ponzu and sea grapes; branzino with shellfish tapioca; anise hyssop ricotta gnocchi; spicy prawns with white peach.
  • Miles Thompson has transformed Allumette from a clubby beer-and-burger joint to a buzzy showplace for his vegetable-intensive modernist cuisine.
  • Jonathan Gold recommends the potato chips with creme fraiche & yuzu, fried oysters with kimchi ranch dressing, tomato salad, pig trotters, ankimo, anise hyssop ricotta gnocchi & the spicy blue prawns.
  • 10 bites in 2 hours. I way too much time to fantasize what taco truck I'm going to hit after this.
  • Good food, but under-portioned and over-priced. A sitcom version of a fancy restaurant.
  • Small portions but delicious. Grilled octopus is to die for!
  • Try the Cavatelli with the Last Ango!
  • Get it while you can, this is out of biz in 2 months tops...
  • Miles Thompson is kind of a god of food. You'd do well to just trust him and his crew.
