Tips

  • This two-and-a-half-mile strip of sandy beach is one of the most popular beaches in the area, and it was also where Seattle's first non-Native American settlers spent their first winter.
  • Sunset and bonfire
  • Perfect on a sunny day in Seattle! Take Beach Drive, walk the beach, roller skate, bike, or build a bonfire and sit around with friends. Spud Fish & Chips is the best!
  • Great spot to grab a bite and sit on the steps watching the waves, the sunset, the boats and ferries going by and the beach volleyball games. Get there and enjoy the sand!
  • Learn how to park your car!
  • When the waves go out you can hear the pebbles rolling out with them. Very cool.
  • It's like the west coast beach vibe meets the east coast beach weather...great place for a refreshing walk or to relax in the sand.
  • Bring booze and pills and have yourself a Saturaty
  • Fantastic view of Seattle, mountain range, etc.Great walk, awesome for people watching and just relaxing. Great place to have a bon fire too!
  • Was introduced to this place solely because of its view. Went here the second day arriving in Washington. Kayaking and you can even rent bikes and ride around with your family or friends.
  • Buy the girl a coffee and start walking and talking...enjoy;)
  • Similar in feel to most beach towns, Alki offers a quick escape from the hustle and bustle of Seattle's urban core. During summer time the area is filled with beachgoers enjoying the sun and views.
  • When The Tide Is Out You Find Some Wonderful Marine Life Along The Beach!!
  • Ride your bike, rollerblade, or play some beach volleyball!
  • Grab a beer or bottle of beer from the local shop and enjoy an un-paralleled sunset.
  • Closest thing to Cali in Washington!
  • I love a good night walk especially since the beach offers a gorgeous view of the Seattle skyline. So if you want to capture some amazing night skylines, bring your camera! Its about a 2.5 mile path.
  • Love this strip in west seattle. Beautiful sunsets, nice for a place to chill, uber busy in summer!
  • Relaxing Seattle Afternoon
  • Photography challenge! Here's a Documerica photo of Alki Beach from 40 years ago. Take a photo of the beach today and share it with our State of the Environment Photo Project.
