One of the smaller gems of the local festival calendar, The Lucky Labrador Barleywine and Big Beer Tastival is being held on March 6-7, 2015 at the NW Lucky Labrador location. If you’re not a fan of lines and spending big bucks to just get in the door of a festival, then this one is for you.
Barleywines tend to be an uncommon beer style due to the high cost of brewing and limited cellar space. Over the years the Lucky Lab has been collecting, storing, and cellaring a variety of strong beers for your enjoyment. This event will focus on barleywines, as well as rare and aged big beers. The selection will include several vintages of barleywine to showcase how the beers can develop over time. While these beers may be enjoyed fresh, the aging process can soften and meld the flavors. Barleywines have a complex flavor profile, which typically ranges from sweet toffee to piney caramel, but can also include so much more.
The best way to sample several amazing barleywines is to attend the Barleywine and Big Beer Tastival. This year’s fest will focus on older vintages of beer. The lineup includes beer ranging from 2009 up to 2014. The Lucky Lab has collected over 50 different beers and will have 20+ on tap at a time. The line-up will change from day to day and hour to hour.
Dates and Times: Friday March 6th and Saturday March 7th, from noon-10pm.
