The clouds are gathering and there is darkness on the horizon, yet the sea is calm, which means Pelican Brewery'sMother of All Storms is on the way. This Kentucky Bourbon Barrel-Aged Barleywine is one of the most highly-rated and sought-after beers in the world, and the 2014 vintage hits next week with a series of events. These include a Brewers Dinner and a vintage vertical tasting at Belmont Station in Portland where you can meet Pelican brewer Whitney Burnside before she leaves for the new 10 Barrel Portland.
Mother of All Storms from Pelican Brewing Company is a Barrel-Aged Barleywine. Based on Stormwatcher's Winterfest, this English-Style barleywine spends several months aging in Kentucky bourbon barrels before it's bottled and kegged. Mother of All Storms delivers deep flavors of toasted malt, bourbon and oak. The finish rewards with whispers of vanilla, toffee and caramel. It is best enjoyed during gusts exceeding 60mph and the 14% ABV will help to retain warmth while waiting out the storm. 31.7 Plato and 40 IBU's.
Mother of All Storms Portland Release Party and Vertical Tasting

In addition to releasing the 2014 vintage, Whitney Burnside and the Pelican gang will also be bringing 2011, 2012 and 2013 vintages on draft. Belmont Station will be pouring flights of all four, plus we will offer glasses of the 2014 Mother of All Storms. There will also be big giveaways and a few more surprises!
Mother of All Storms Release Party
Because quantities are limited Pelican Brewing Company opens its doors at 8am on November 15th, making it first available to those waiting outside the brewery who have weathered the elements. The special release of this anticipated brew highlights the "Mother's Day" weekend in Pacific City. On Saturday, November 15th the Mother's Day festivities begin at 8:00am at the Pelican Pub & Brewery with live music, special tasting events, Mother-infused food items, and Mother of All Storm giveaways. This year the Barrel Room in the brewery will be open with coffee at 6am so waiting in the elements is now optional.
Extreme Brewers Dinner
On Friday, November 14th join the Pelican culinary team for an Extreme Beer Dinner to kick off the Mother's Day weekend. The chef team at the Pelican Pub will be creating unique dishes to pair with several strong ales. Meet the brewers and have the opportunity to get some of the Mother of All Storms before anyone else.

Online Orders
Like years past, Pelican will offer cases of MOAS for online orders on a first come first serve basis on how much is left after the release party. These will ship in time to enjoy over the Thanksgiving holiday. Send an email to Mother@PelicanBrewery.com to be added to the email waiting list. Pelican will contact individuals after the 16th of November should any still be available.
Mother's Day Brunch
On Sunday, November 16th meet up at the Pelican Pub & Brewery for a Mother's Day brunch from 8-11am. This event happens once a year at the Pelican Pub & Brewery on the beach at Cape Kiwanda.
