Here at The Daily Meal, we're always looking for new and creative ways to do the obvious. Sometimes that's a new twist on an old recipe, and other times it's when we figure out a new use for one of our favorite pieces of equipment. The best, though, is when we can come up with creative and unique ways to use a common ingredient or pantry staple in new ways.

Like Greek yogurt, for example. That's one ingredient that, before now, we only thought to enjoy for breakfast, but it can be added to a handful of recipes to make them more delicious and, well, better. There's so much more to Greek yogurt than its customary uses, and it has a place in so many different recipes beyond the obvious ones like tzatziki sauce or a granola parfait.

Did you know that you can use Greek yogurt to create a creamy, delicious — and healthy — blue cheese dressing? Or that the breakfast staple can also play a role in tenderizing and flavoring your oven-fried chicken? We bet you never thought to use it as a base for your caramelized onion dip, but when you do, you'll see that you get the same, flavorful dip and with half the calories than you would with mayonnaise or sour cream.

Thankfully for us, someone did think about using Greek yogurt outside of its usual purposes.
