14 October Wine Events Not To Miss

It's hard to believe it's already October! Harvest is in full swing, and it's time to break out your wooly sweater and sip your way into fall at wine events around the nation. Here are some great events, so if you're in the area, be sure to check them out.

26th Annual Gruene Music and Wine Festival, New Braunfels, Texas, Oct. 4-7

Backyard Winemaker Dinner Series at Apple Farm Inn, San Luis Obispo, Calif., Oct. 5
Harvest season is our favorite time on the wine calendar, and we never miss an opportunity to eat and sip outdoors! Enjoy a four-course "backyard" dinner with seasonal dishes and wines from the Paso Robles husband and wife team from Poalillo Vineyards. More information available here.

Sonoma County Harvest Fair, Santa Rosa, Calif., Oct. 5-7

9th Annual Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk & Shop, Truckee, Calif., Oct. 6
Come to downtown Truckee near Lake Tahoe to sample wine and food; all participants receive a map of participating venues, as well as a goodie bag and food tickets. More information available here.

3rd Annual Springs Preserve Grapes & Hops Festival, Las Vegas, Nev., Oct. 6
Featuring fine wine, beer and food from excellent Las Vegas restaurants, as well as Afro-Cuban and salsa music and a silent auction, this Saturday evening event benefits Par for The Cure, which raises money for breast cancer research. More information available here.

2012 TASTE Philadelphia Festival of Food, Wine and Spirits, Oaks, Penn., Oct. 12-14

Black Dog Wine & Music Festival, Floyd, Va., Oct. 13
Admission to this all-day festival featuring live beach music includes a winery tour, tastings and a souvenir wine glass, as well as food vendors and the opportunity to let loose with some barefoot dancing. More information available here.

6th Annual Wine Festival at 5 Rivers, Spanish Fort, Ala., Oct. 18

9th Annual Cleveland Wine Opener, Cleveland, Oct. 19
